THE Show Newport
« on: April 10, 2013, 01:51:08 AM »

Who is going to this?

Anaxilus
Purrin
Ultrabike
Schiit
Tyll
LFF

Trying to figure out what I want to do this year between this, a Changstar only meet, or RMAF. The extra time on THE Show and RMAF is attractive as I know how fast even 2 1/2 days (RMAF) can go by. Right now I'm well set on headphone gear, but I'm interested in learning what types of sounds are out there in speakers (THE Show/RMAF) to guide my choices for my own speaker rig, which will likely not include anything I would see there. Would also enjoy meeting all of you and hanging out throughout the day(s) going room to room and getting your takes on what we just heard and socializing after. Would love to hear Marv's speaker rig and the modded Jades as well as Mike's HD800 rig too though so a Changstar only meet would be great too. Hmm..

I think RMAF is the best as far as speaker shows go.

1) multi day. Gives exhibitors time to tweak and get the rooms to sound better as days pass
2) I believe it is the largest in terms or rooms/exhibitors
3) IME RMAF tends to have the best sounding rooms
4) more smaller companies exhibit at RMAF

Having said all that you're still unlikely to hear truly exceptional sound from more than a handful of rooms.

Yep, we're in the Headphonium section. Not sure if that's related to neutronium. Hopefully not.

With any luck, we'll have a couple of nifty new things to show you. Neither will be radioactive.

It's so close and the tickets are so cheap...I am very tempted.

Maybe I can convince my dad to go so I don't have to go alone.   :-[

I'm almost certainly going on Friday. Don't know about the weekend

Note to Maxvia and Tyll: if either of you are baseball fans, note that the Angels are home that weekend, and the stadium is about a half hour from the show hotels.

I'll probably be there.

Will bring along my remasters on CD this time around to demo stuff.  :&

Depends.  If you are into buying some DSDs or other stuff vendors might want to part with, go Day 1.  Otherwise Day 2 after things get more settled in and tweaked.
