I'd like to get a Duke Ellington album (yeah, I just caught American Hustle and loved "Jeep's Blues"), but which one?
Really loved the big band feel of "Jeep's Blues". Can any pirates recommend me a CD that'd have more like that?

"Ellington at Newport" is one I like, I think it'll give you some of what you're looking for!

I really like Altima's stuff, very catchy to listen to.

One of Lantis' first attempts at a hi-res album which ultimately wasn't very high resy still nice to listen to though.
