BTBAM can be hit or miss for me. I'm not a huge fan of their material before "Colors," though "Alaska" has some really good moments (Selkies). I was hesitant to really give this album a listen, because I found the house-BTBAM sound to be pretty formulaic and samey across their albums (had almost 0 interest in their material after "Colors" because it was basically the same but worse). On top of that, they're almost always playing in an eclectic fashion, almost as though they're taking some sort of stimulant. I hope in the future they break out of their mold a bit, branch out, and maybe try slowing down a bit, but that's just me.

Either way, their latest album has proven to be a lot of fun with some truly excellent moments. It's surprisingly cohesive throughout the entire album and makes me want to sit through it all. I might say it's their best since "Colors" and potentially even better than that. I could just use less moments where I feel like I'm stuck inside a musical Christmas tree shaker.

My kids school is having a charity concert tonight.  Always great to see budding talent!!  It's a bit of a light start, but I'm hoping they get rocking later.  The jazz band is up towards the end.

Audiophile hell: put my player on random, Third Eye Blind comes up. I'm not really fond of their music (and haven't been since the mid-90s teenage years), but what bothers me first is the atrocious quality of the 15+ year old 192kbps rip. Even though I'm seriously questioning simply deleting this album I can't, because now I must listen to a FLAC or high quality compressed version of it. And now I am critically listening to the random cheesy song I wasn't too thrilled to encounter in the first place in order to gauge whether I don't like the music itself or if maybe I haven't really ever properly listened to it, man, and have yet to hear that nuance which only comes from a 24/96 rip of a virgin vinyl needle drop that really makes you appreciate the art. 'Cause maybe I want something else to get me through this semi-charmed kinda life; baby, baby.
