I've been very captivated by this album lately:

For those that don't know (I didn't), Anders was in the band At The Gates, which is one of the bands that pioneered the "Gothenburg sound." That particular melodic style of metal went on to influence many big-name metal bands, including As I Lay Dying and Killswitch Engage. In Flames is another band that pioneered the Gothenburg sound, and they're still around. Their earlier works are phenomenal, and it's amazing how much influence these Swedish bands hand with metal in the 90s-2000s (directly and indirectly).

HOWEVER, despite his background, this album is not metal. Or all that heavy, really. All instrumental. Anders claims his influences were 60s-70s Italian movie soundtracks and prog-rock, jazz, and folk music. It's one long piece, about 36 minutes or so ignoring the last track (mostly silence). I wasn't sure what to expect going in, but I was very excited to finally see the whole album available on Google Play (also on Amazon and iTunes, I believe). I've really enjoyed listening to it so far. Here's a sample of the first 3 tracks:

Torres : Torres

Self titled, self released.  Mackenzie Scott's debut.

This album grabbed me on the first listen.  It’s intimate and raw.  Torres is barely accompanied, sometimes by a single Gibson guitar her family bought her so she could record this album.  Her voice ranges from beautiful to haunting, but never moves far from gripping.  I got caught up in her storytelling from beginning to end.

The modest recording, bordering on lo-fi, shows off a new talent.  I look forward to hearing more from Torres after this introduction!

First time I hear about her Ship! She is pretty darn good!!!

Honey seems quite popular and original, but here are some of the ones I likes the most:

1) When Winter's Over
2) Don't Run Away, Emilie

Also, referring back to a post I made about Brahms Hungarian Dance 5 from Nishimoto, I liked the recording, but like the tempo of this performance better (by Henry Shek):
