Santo & Johnny - Sleep Walk

Santo & Johnny - Tear Drop

Funny thing about "Sleepwalk." When you play it for people who know their rock history a little bit, very often their initial reaction is "wow, that's so East LA." When you tell them that Santo and Johnny were paisans from Brooklyn, you can see the cognitive dissonance.

Ironically, when they were starting out, Los Lobos often included "Sleepwalk" in their live shows.

Sigh No More is one of my all time favorite albums.  Not one song I don't really dislike from it.

Babel is pretty bleh.

As for me, right now:

Indeed! The Farina brothers. My father is sort of a 50's and 60's rock 'n roll nut, and has a huge collection of very poorly taken care of vinyl records from the era he accumulated over the years. I don't like all of what he's got, but Santo & Johnny certainly are among my favs.

Really?  I like them both equally.  They are very similar IMO so far, I can't imagine liking one and not the other.  Maybe you just haven't listened to Babel enough yet.

That Angus Stone keeps popping up here.  I grabbed it after the first time I saw it hear and it's been getting a lot of play time with me too.

Cool!  I like it too.  Bass can be hard for headphones to reproduce as it is kind of bloated already.  Will sound fine with accurate gear.

It's just a boring album in comparison.  There are a couple good songs on it, but there's nothing to write home about when talking about the entire album.

It's true that I havn't listened to it more than Sigh No More.  Going down my itunes list right now, each song on sigh no more has at least 50-70 playthroughs.  Babel only has about 10-20 per in comparison.

That's enough to get a feel for it though.  I don't think I've listened to either that much yet.

Bought the MoFi version of Beck's "Sea Change" over the holidays.

Though I have been trying to compare the "Standard" Released Version with the MoFi version or listen to the changes in my system...I end up listening to the album.

(As it should be.)
