WHY OH WHY LFF...WHY DO YOU THINK THE HD700 is worth $300?

Simple nice answer: Brand name and comfort.
 
My honest opinion on the Senn HD-700?
 
One of the biggest let downs I have experienced in my life and, unfortunately, one of the WORST headphones I have ever had the displeasure of hearing. Purrin nailed it by calling them treble peaked monstrosities. I might consider buying them as a gift for someone else (obviously someone I didn't care about much...) if they cost $90.00 as I feel the Brainwavz HM-5 sound MUCH better.

Tried it myself after seeing reviews from some Mandarin-written websites.
It was claimed that it was the little brother of HD800. Very closely sounding to HD800, just a little less resolving and detail.

My reaction: Is that all? Sennheiser has a lot of explaining to do to account for the huge gap between SQ and price.

It just sucks that I can't post my honest thoughts and opinions over there anymore.
 
I hate to think some poor college kid saving his hard earned money deliverying pizza's day in and day out will plop down $1000 for a piece of shit headphone that sounds like shit when they could buy a used HE-500 that will sound WAY better than a shitty HD700.
 
I have nothing against head-fi. I still frequent the place.

Not hard to imagine why they were shilling them.  Did you see Mike's used HD800 pads?!  I've never seen anything like it.   :-00
