Is the Leckerton officially "Made for iPad" certified, or are you using the Lightning to 30-pin dongle with the mysterious DAC in it?

There's a lightning to usb camera adapter that Apple sells. It allows a direct connection to the dac of some portable dac/amps (like the leckerton and the pico) using a standard usb to mini cable. Neither of them are certified.

AFAIK the lightning to 30 pin dongle allows for analog output with an LOD, but I haven't tried it yet.

This is quite an interesting concept, getting digital out of Dap or smartphone.
Seems to me that this could be a better USB digital source than a desktop PC with it's noisy SMPS psu and hardware.
Getting a clean USB signal from PC/Laptop seems to much hassle...

I've been looking for a portable, battery powered and 'cheap' USB digital audio source but, unfortunatelly, I haven't found much yet... this probably accounts as part of the reason why Apple doesn't seem to be in a hurry to work out this functionality on Iphone/pod...

I ask:
Are there no other portable USB digital source alternatives to these Apple devices?

Somebody should open a thread about portable digital sources...

Yup, Nokia and Samsung.  I use my N8 via USB on the go to my Leckerton.  I hear the Galaxy S3 is pretty versatile.  Then you can carry around 300gb-600gb of uSDHC cards in your wallet for music/movies/videos/etc.

Checking for N8s...

(Can be found cheap, specifications are still impressive...)

Couple of issues that bother me.  Lack of a hi-rez player for symbian.  Only 256MB of RAM.  I run 4 simultaneous accounts including exchange so it's taken me some effort to be resource efficient and maintain snappy responsiveness especially multi tasking.  I'm waiting for prices to drop on the 808 unless something better comes out.

This is great, just what I'm looking for.
This Nokia N8 seems pretty cool...
Can't believe I missed the USB OTG protocol, need to read up what other devices carry this...

Can these smartphones work with USB powered devices(Dac)? Disregard battery life
Or is an external psu is necessary in such case?

Yet, I'm still not sure if it is tested and proven that these devices do actually make for better digital sources than PCs?
