Extremely close, but O2 has higher output impedance from the first listen unless implemented perfectly.
I've seen O2 being 0.5, 1.1 and 1.9 Ohm, sample size of 3. (nvawguy reference, JDS Labs Joker's and the local home made.)

UHA6 mkII has immeasurable impedance. That is, my 1% precision voltmeter with added external precision Kelvin bridge with 1% reference resistors cannot measure its impedance. (Specifically, it's below 0,05 Ohm.)

I cannot speak for ODAC, as I haven't ever heard it. From what it looks, it is an extremely competent DAC, but the Cirrus Logic implemented in Leckerton is implemented by one of the designers of the chip...  :)p14
The limiting factor of Leckerton via USB is the TI interface chip. Not a huge limitation if you don't need digital volume control in the DAC - the noise floor of 16-bit is not audible unless ridiculous gain is applied. (e.g. 24 dB)
Just make sure the OS and any DSP you use is better than 16-bit and the downmixing is done correctly, preferably with dither. For example, Pulseaudio and Windows 8 dither (rectangular half bit), while Windows 7 and ALSA don't.

It's best to use SPDIF for DAC duties instead though (preferably optical) and external high quality power supply. AFAIR ODAC doesn't have SPDIF, so cannot do this.

Is it thought that O2/Odac sounds as good as UHA6?

The general consensus is the amp in the UHA6s is better than the O2, but the Odac is better than the UHA6s dac (at least comparing USB).

As far as why someone would want the Schiit stack there are various reasons. Cheaper, 1/4" plug headphones, not wanting to deal with battery power, RF shielding. I love my UHA6s, and it's a good single solution, but that doesn't mean other solutions aren't viable in other people's setups.

Is the amp on the bottom just for the sake of photos?  Just asking.

The Schitt DAC (on top) is the $99 MODI
the amp below it is the $99 MAGNI

Great looks and probably works just as well as NwAvGuy stuff (equally transparent to him).
Like the looks of the Schitt better though.

Great pricing for entry level HQ sound, all it needs is s GOOD low impedance headphone to really shine !

I'm asking about thermal regulation...

I don't think the Magni will get very warm.
No tubes, no class-A, no heat sinks, no transformer.
total power consumption is stated to be 4W.
Let's assume this is drawn power at the primary side of the trafo (wallwart) under max load (2*1W).

It's how I usually have them.  There's no risk in heat buildup, there's enough space between the stack to allow the magni to breath. It actually gets rather warm, but only because its entire case is like a heat sink, so to say.

My desk is always super clean too. Having OCD is punishment enough, thankyouverymuch.
