Amazing discussion Socrates. You do the great philosopher a disservice by using his name.

BRILLIANT DISCUSSION THOUGH! Nature would never fool us....

Why deceive us?

I trust my senses insofar as I believe I am indeed hearing differences. What we attribute those differences to however is another matter entirely. Moods change. Feelings and perspectives change. As human beings we are in a state of flux, and if we can recognize these idiosyncrasies then we are most certainly counting on the accuracy of our worldview. Accuracy of sensory input is important to survival, but then knowing one's limitations is just as vital in such an argument. Especially when we're talking about the interpretation of sound, which is a nuanced phenomena and not cut and dry like spotting a predator. The interpretation of sound and its subtleties is an art, and in such cases psychological factors are of great importance.

Know thyself.

I think we need some better safe guard against streams of consciousness bullshit in this forum. Something like a plugin that won't allow noobs to post before they've visited all the threads in the soapbox. Then, they will get a popup asking "Are you sure this is a good post, or just bullshit?" every time they try to post, untill they've posted certain number of posts. Something like that.
