I like it a lot. It's been my main DAC for over a year now. The S/N ratio probably is not as good as some of the newer DACs though. You can definitely hear the power supply when you turn to about 70% to full volume.

I would suggest you to buy the Newer Rega DAC. I had a parasound 1100hd and the type of sound is about the same but better.

Thanks for the info, guys! I may also take a stab at those Metrum Octave (or quad) dacses.

From what I've heard they need modding to sound right and I'm all in for getting my rod wet.

Are these transports generally better than most USB inputs? Would it be worth it to get this over, say the $100 USB option on the Schiit DACs?

I can't see why it would be unless the USB input it's replacing is pretty screwed up to begin with.  You're adding at least a whole extra stage so the USB>I2S(maybe)>S/PDIF>I2S>Music has to be better than just USB>I2S>Music.

If you think you're having a problem with jitter does adding even more clocks seem like a good idea?  It's possible, but I have to wonder about the likelihood...
