That's a good deal - about a hundred bucks cheaper than the cheapest soundearphones ever sells it for.

Yeah, I did a quick price check on Google, and it seems too good to be true. I'm wondering if he's mistaking it for the W2 or W3's. Guess I'll find out tomorrow.

I remember seeing someone mention it on the deal thread - I think it's true, they're closeout or summat like that.

QH - Did you end up bagging the W4's? Wanna flip one?

They only had one left at that price and it was the demo unit. If you want one, I can try the other airport in San Jose this weekend.

I'm talking to someone on HF about buying their SR007 MK1 for around $1500 (give or take a bit).  It has the MK2 pads, but the headband or headpad (trying to clarify finding out which one) looks old and is not elastic.  Trying to find out if it there's any cosmetic damage to it, too.

Is this a decent deal?  I've found two almost brand-new MK2.5s for under $1500 shipped.  It sounds like the 2.5 is very similar to the 2, so I'm leaning towards the MK1, but I'm a bit concerned about wear and tear on older MK1s.

Any replacement/maintenance concerns I should be aware of with the older MK1s?

The MK1s come up quite a bit, you just have to be patient. Most of the time I see them going for more than they should, ie. $1800. I think $1500 would be a fair price if it were pristine. I'd try to get them to come down.

As for the MK1 and any concerns, wasn't there a spring issue that Stax corrected with the MK2? My mind is drawing a blank this morning.

I mostly talk about music there. Weird.

I just bought an MK1 in pretty good condition, some wear on the pads/band, for $1500 - I think that's the lower end your liable to see (from checking prices over the last 12 months) - less than that sounds good.

Just saw that some of you guys got really good condition MK1s for $1400-1450 plus shipping and fees.  I figure the MK2 pads are a nice addition, but the old/worn headband and headpad is a turnoff.

The headband are the two rigid arcs on the top of the headphone, and the headpad is that elastic thing that goes on hair, right?

I guess for this specimen, I probably want to be closer to $1400.  Looks like there are two chips in the silver paint, and the headband is loose.  Passing on this one, as I saw dave selling his for $1400-1450 in much better condition back in May.
