Edit: Looks like $450 is pricey.  I'm seeing $350-400 for used units within the last 7 years.  I also read that if the converter develops an issue, then any repairs are unlikely.

Could be trouble. You can check with Parasound if you want, but those Ultra Analog chips are irreplaceable. The safest vintage DAC buys are EAD and Sonic Frontiers/Assemblage. Very easy repairs and upgrades for both.

I don't know if the PS Audio Digitla Link III is a good unit, nor do I know if this is actually a good deal, but people here love the PWD and this is on "sale"

http://www.musicdirect.com/p-7414-ps-audio-digital-link-iii-dac.aspx

It's not, and it's not. The DLIII is perpetually on sale for $700, which it is not worth. $500 is slightly more realistic, but you can find them on Audiogon for less than that all day. Even then the Bifrost will likely beat the tar out of it.

I should have posted that earlier. There actually was a HE-5LE as well at the same price.
I saw it a few days back, unfortunately my keyboard was dead & I couldn't post it at that time. Later, it just slipped my mind until today.  walk the plank

I wonder why they're selling the HE5/HE5LE cheaper than what the HE400 goes for on HF Marketplace.  Has the market recently tanked for the 500/5/5LE?

ECBA up, as I know a few of us are interested in one.  Unfort this one is higher than I'd want to pay, particularly with no EML 300Bs.

$3650 with Craig's recommended stock tubes.
