Both me and Chris1967 come from Athens, Greece. We have had a headphone meet last year which was a nice success and got coverage from a couple of sites as well (Part Time Audiophile and Mono&Stereo), though obviously not connected to CS (hosted by local audio forum)

I am a friend of the guys (actually a girl, Juliane) who runs the Essen event, they are trying hard to make it better every year. Promised I would visit them but doubt I will make it in the end. Maybe next year..

Nick, you are the Vice President of the Chennai chapter of CS.

Mr President, sir... Yes. Inevitably, as there are only two of us!

Pity we can't attract some more, but I have rather lost touch with Chennai audiophiles since I moved away from a certain forum for certain reasons.

Hi Bat!

Like i said, the Theta Gen Va was the best dac i have ever had, i hope it is still going strong!
But i had bad economical situation, studying etc. so the Theta had to go.

But things are better now, and it looks like (for the price) the Yggdrasil and Gungnir (MB) are very hard to beat...
I think the price/performance are great in those dacs, but i have never heard either one, so i just have to trust the reviews :)
Have you heard the Yggdrasil yourself? What you think about it?

Best regards,
Niko

I haven't heard the Yggy myself (not many in EU yet), but Negura had both Gen VA and Yggy at one point. Then he got a MSB Analog, and he prefered to keep the theta instead of the Yggy. Some things are done better by Yggy according to him, but for a few others theta still has the edge. Ultimately he sold the theta though. I'm sure Yggy and Gumby are good, but that much better than your gen VA (actually mine now ;) ) ? Not sure.

Myself and Marv totally disagree about the Theta vs. Yggy. We prefer the Yggy by a rather significant margin in pretty 90% of the things that matter to us.

However, we prefer using transports versus streaming.

If you like a warmer thicker signature over better technicalities like resolution and imaging precision, the Theta is the one for you.
