I remember seeing Sambas with a lot of the B-boy's and skate boarders.
This is one of the reasons why I like the K-Swiss Classics. They're very comfortable and durable. I can usually get a couple years (or more) of wear from a pair. Their soles are high quality.

I've been a long time Onitsuka Tiger fan as well - although sadly my favorites, the "tai chi" appear to have been recently discontinued. Have gone through multiple pairs over the last ten years and probably would have continued to rebuy them for the indefinite future. Classic low profile design with a super thin sole and nice wide toe box. Next best thing to being without shoes.
You really need to try Nike Flyknits (4.0 or 3.0), even if just for a while at a store. That's really the closest to "shoeless" I've ever felt.
