  • I used to be indecisive, but I'm not so sure now.

That means that Western manufacturers have to re-invest in domestic manufacturing for consumers and pro-sumers. The Western companies and countries did this (loss of domestic manufacturing advantage) to themselves. At the same time the stock exchange and short-term vision is too often dictating agendas of politicians and entrepreneurs.

Autarky or the ability to be self-sufficient has been largely sacrificed for short-term gains. Who pays? We pay because corporations and companies dictate our choices unless we go DIY or stop spending money....

Partly to blame is our whole capitalist system; it filters all the money to the top, whilst the remainder of the population are left the scraps. But now, on top of this, another even more capitalist system (although they'll never admit that) is taking advantage.

I guess, as a consumer, I'll always look for the best value for money, to spend my scraps. I just hope that it's a genuine and honest manufacturer that can offer the best deal. Hell! Maybe that manufacturer might even pay their employees a good wage (rather than help 'fatten up' the shareholders etc.).

Anyway. Enough of the utopian dreaming. This is a another Krell clone that has me intrigued:

I can do without the (omitted) speaker terminals. But why are there 2 types of input (AC coupled & DC direct)?

"Value-for-money" remains my first demand with pretty much every purchase over 20 Euros.

Autarky and capitalism can work. A long-term orientation is required though and that means less short-term enjoyment. Like you I can only focus on what my wallet allows now. I have the same hopes as you. I prefer helping/supporting my close neighbour when I can.

One thing that, with some exceptions, you pay for when you buy authentic over a clone. A good warranty. To me, if I am buying a premium good, I want a warranty to ensure that I can support the brand for years to come.

Am I the only one that read Chi-fi as Chicago-fi?

It took me a while to figure out WTF you guys were talking about.

even 270 $ might be too much for a V200 (clone or not). If you have bright not highly resolving headphones it might be O.K.
I was happy to sell my V200 and am waiting for a Liquid Carbon which I hope will be a bargain in its own unique and healthy way...

You are not alone. I clicked on this thinking there was going to be a Chicago area pirate meet, only to be met with a debate on the merits of global capitalism...

Buying cheap Chi-fi clone equipment is better than getting ripped by UK companies(Hugo/Daves) etc..

Wasn't there some sort of ChiUniFi thing last year? I don't even know what the Uni part would be.

Just a month ago

Here,

and here,

Also presumably uni for university, but the first one I even went to was like 5 or 6 and was in some kind of nightclub/bar that didn't have anything better to do during the day...
