Well, what a coincidence: mere minutes after reading the review complaining about the sharp edges of the Jr.'s casework (a valid beef in my view, but not a deal-breaker), into my inbox comes an email announcing the availability of cases for it.

I got the same email. My review had no bearing on the making of cases (which should have taken months), but the wording of the copy is obvious: they are admitting design error:

"AK Jr users! Looking to soften some of the edges of the AK Jr and give it some protection from everyday use? The AK Jr Case are available now at the Astell&Kern e-store! "

Since Solderdude was positive about the X3 I am keeping an eye on Fiio. A DAP which can function as a decent enough Amp/DAC for not too much money with the basic functionality of a Clip Plus or Fuze, yeah I am paying attention...

The X3 MK2 is an awesome deal. I don't doubt that A&K Jr. is a good DAP, however after A&K's 380 announcement I can't help but gag whenever I see their name.

And a $50 case for a $500 unit? Takes a little ... what's Korean for "chutzpah?"
