that's why they always have the saying ''want to get your kids laid, send them to college. want them to learn, send them to the library''.

educational system changed so much past years.....

So true.....

I miss college at times.... :P

Anyway....my wife and I were talking about this same thing a few weeks ago. We decided that we should try to home school our kids. Creativity and critical thinking are two things that are severely missing from schools today.

only teacher i ever really liked in my life in school was my art teacher. he was not only fascinating that i was left-handed for some odd reason but liked my abstract thinking and taught me so much with art. he was very good at it and, cause he actually would show me piece by piece what he's doing and what he was thinking.

In spanish we say: "Hay diferencia entre un Maestro y un Profesor." => "There are differences between a Master and a Professor". It is kind of hard to translate because the word "master" in english usually translates to "amo" in spanish which pretty much means slave owner. "Maestro" is more like someone with complete mastery on a subject... Seems you found a "maestro"...

I had the fortune to meet a few "maestros" even at university/graduate level subjects... In EE maybe one (we called him the "old man"), and in Math another one (this one was an odd ball and sort of hated by many... non the less he was a "maestro")... I also meet disgraceful individuals that had the title of professors. One was tenured and could not be removed. He got stripped from teaching, and only saw him once or twice... He seldom showed up at all... He had his own business and collected a pay check from the school. Even other professors would be openly irritated about him...

I know you guys might not care 'bout this... But hell, this is the random thought thread.... One thing that fascinated me about the Gaussian distribution function is that it beautifully manages to combine PI and E in it, and somehow manages to describe random phenomena very well... Like I said, I started seeing Gaussian all over the place, and that was not necessarily a view shared by the University faculty. They literally could not care less what the hell I thought...

Always fun making someone choke on Schrodinger's cat too.
Ummmm. I was just reading that the Many-worlds interpretation is gaining popularity though... Which one should we put our faith in?

Prime Directive.  You know, that thing every Captain of the Enterprise ignores.

;D.  "to explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before" suggests inevitable footprints...and missteps.  here's a short breakdown: http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Prime_Directive

Oh well. Some say a picture is worth a thousand words... Analixus & fishski13 brought up Prime Directive and Spock.. I just though a pirate Spock would be appropriate... you know, to convey the beautiful and random thought about friendship is magic...  ;D
