MOG
« on: April 30, 2012, 05:38:22 AM »

i signed up for the free version of MOG tonight.  unlike Spotify, they claim up to 320kbps with the free version, depending on what the label gives them.  a cursory comparison with a few Bjork, Air, and XTC songs via lossless JRiver Media and HD do reveal a sonic penalty, but nothing offensive.  i didn't sign up expecting sonic purity, but rather a means to search out and listen to new artists before committing to purchasing the CD.  i'm digging it so far.

Good find! I just signed up as well.

I like how you don't have download a program like Spotify. It doesn't seem as social as Spotify though where you can see what your friends are listening to and send them playlists and stuff. On second thought, maybe that's a good thing.

Listening to the new Jack White album now.

supposedly you can sign up for MOG without FB, but the link i found didn't work.  i work with some sociopaths that i will need to de-friend if i don't want them to view what i listen to, and possibly make false assumptions re: my lifestyle.

Goddamn CRTC blocks everything worthwhile in Canada.

Is Pandora still popular in the states?

I don't see many people using Pandora anymore now that Spotify has taken over.

I've had a MOG subscription for three or four months now and have been very happy.  The iDevice app (and Windows app.. which has Kernel Streaming, I believe) is nice.. easy to navigate.. and the development crew interfaced well with customers to improve and add features.

Got the $9.99/mo subscription that gives me 320kbs streaming to all my devices and the ability to download songs when out of signal range. I fucking love it. It's practically the only thing I listen to (music ADD ... must. try. something. new. always.)

Love MOG. Much better SQ than Spotify premium IMO. I've been using the $4.99 plan for a while, but recently switched to the $9.99 plan for mobile. I don't think the software is as robust as Spotify, but music/SQ wise- much better.
