Check the prices, I think some have come down. It's installation that's the killer. Wish I could do it myself.

They're still >twice as much as a window unit with the same BTU rating and then there's installation on top of that.

Split unit was around $1000-1500 installed for us. Seems to be around $3k to add coils and a compressor for our whole house.

I really need more trickle chargers for my cars. Also, if I swap out for a Lithium Shorai, I'll need a separate charger to handle that. Oy.. facepalm

Just bought a bagel with cream cheese and when I get back to the office and pull it apart, most of the cream cheese is stuck to one side.  Day isn't starting off great.

That's awful! Reminds me of picking up a fresh pizza and taking it home through a few twisty corners and heavy braking zones only to find all the cheese and toppings slid over to one side of the pizza. I'm sure not even an emaciated Somali could bring themselves to eat such a culinary travesty.

Was that for one room? That's in the ballpark on an estimate a local HVAC guy gave me for our bedroom. (10 years ago he told me $15,000 to do the whole house.). I'm just sick of buying cheap window units that go bad after three years.

I'll have to see if I can get that king of deal around here...

In an attempt to manage the sweating caused by the heat from my amp, I've taken to applying a frozen gel pack to the back of my neck, but these only remain cold for about 10-15 minutes, necessitating a periodic trek down 2 flights of stairs across the west wing of the house through several rooms and hallways to the kitchen freezer, and then back. Oh the humanity.

My slave tried to escape the dungeon, now I have to reinforce all of the secret doors and check all the soundproofing again.

But the worst part is having to deal with a slave with one less hand.

Just got the final quote, $3800

Our furnace is new and has a blower (2 stage). Our ductwork is quite large for heat and doesn't need to be resized.

$3800 covers running ductwork to two bedrooms upstairs, evaporator coil install, and a 4.5 ton compressor install (he measured our need to be 4.4 tons).
