My OTL tube amp is too hot and making me sweat but the air conditioner is too loud for critical listening with my open back headphones.
-
I'm having the same issue. I shut off the air and opened the french doors to my patio, but now I hear someone loudly doing yardwork nearby. It's intolerable.
-
That's why I have a two amps for my speaker rig. A tube amp for winter and a SS for summer. :)p5 I still need a split unit AC unit for the room. Oh the pain, the pain.
-
My preamp is insufficient to route a signal to all of my amps. My DAC has 3 outputs, and the preamp has two, for a total of 4 amps. I've also run out of rack space, and some amps are living in a closet. I also don't have a routing solution for the output of the speaker amps, and I have to manually move my cables around.

This is why the 3rd world still uses slaves.

wow this isn't just me, same problem but with the gustard's fat class-A ass, my Wii U, and the geek out running all at once on my desk, plus my PC running right below it
fucking space heater
-
This is why my listening rig and work space is located in front of windows.
-
2nd world problem:
The ZDSE I used to own ran too hot, but I didn't have air conditioning in my room let alone an electric fan. During summertime I would find my HD800 covered in sweat after an hour of listening or two.
True story.
-
I won't buy a $7000 amp because it doesn't have a remote.
-

Yes. And that is why your neighbors close all their blinds and endure the suffocating heat when your are working or listening to your rig. Those poor bastards. facepalm. :)p13
It was there, I had to take it. :)p7

I agree. This is 2015 ahoy

My media server does not allow me to load any music of my own choice, but comes with Hotel California built in.

My window unit is dying. I want to get a split system, but that will probably be too expensive and I'll end up with another noisy, but affordable, window unit...
-
I had a power outage a few days ago, and it messed up the USB controller on my external hard drive. I need to copy the data off, but I only have one spare, and need to wait for a sale to pick up two more externals. (The drive works fine when connected to my USB hub, but will disconnect intermittently otherwise)
They're not that expensive.

Check the prices, I think some have come down. It's installation that's the killer. Wish I could do it myself.
-

Nonsense. I need that cotton wicking action to keep me cool.
-
Closed headphones with the AC on full blast.
Can't help you with the AC, but LFF can with the headphones.
-

They're still >twice as much as a window unit with the same BTU rating and then there's installation on top of that.
-
Split unit was around $1000-1500 installed for us. Seems to be around $3k to add coils and a compressor for our whole house.
-
I really need more trickle chargers for my cars. Also, if I swap out for a Lithium Shorai, I'll need a separate charger to handle that. Oy.. facepalm

Just bought a bagel with cream cheese and when I get back to the office and pull it apart, most of the cream cheese is stuck to one side. Day isn't starting off great.

That's awful! Reminds me of picking up a fresh pizza and taking it home through a few twisty corners and heavy braking zones only to find all the cheese and toppings slid over to one side of the pizza. I'm sure not even an emaciated Somali could bring themselves to eat such a culinary travesty.

Was that for one room? That's in the ballpark on an estimate a local HVAC guy gave me for our bedroom. (10 years ago he told me $15,000 to do the whole house.). I'm just sick of buying cheap window units that go bad after three years.

I'll have to see if I can get that king of deal around here...

In an attempt to manage the sweating caused by the heat from my amp, I've taken to applying a frozen gel pack to the back of my neck, but these only remain cold for about 10-15 minutes, necessitating a periodic trek down 2 flights of stairs across the west wing of the house through several rooms and hallways to the kitchen freezer, and then back. Oh the humanity.

My slave tried to escape the dungeon, now I have to reinforce all of the secret doors and check all the soundproofing again.
But the worst part is having to deal with a slave with one less hand.

Just got the final quote, $3800
Our furnace is new and has a blower (2 stage). Our ductwork is quite large for heat and doesn't need to be resized.
$3800 covers running ductwork to two bedrooms upstairs, evaporator coil install, and a 4.5 ton compressor install (he measured our need to be 4.4 tons).

Thanks. Wow the prices have come down. Hopefully it will be less up here.

It might be possessed by something. Did you listen to the Eagles of Death Metal?
Seven generations cursed to listen to Hotel California. Sometimes it doesn't even play the whole song. Sometimes just the bit about never being able to leave. And sometimes I find "Don't mess with audiophiles, ok?" written in blood on the mirror.
-

I do (well, boxer shorts) because I went where the climate suits my clothes
Closed headphones with the AC on full blast.
Gets a bit sticky inside open headphones in this part of the world. Maybe a ventilation fan mod?

Not only that I realized there is a version of it in The Big Lebowski. You can never leave.

First world problems?
Who should I vote for?
What should I order from the menu?
Should I switch jobs?
I might end up in a nursing home!
My doctor said I need surgery!

Is there no "Stairway To Heaven" or "Road To Nowhere" to escape? If not you can only hope to meet undead MJ doing his "Thriller" thing. Otherwise you might meet the slaying "Angel Of Death." At best you find the doors and "The End" plays for eternity...
-
Great South Park episode. Dead Celebrities. "I'm not dead." Think I might pick the Doors. :&

I could almost live with that! My only friend; The End... :)p2
Now, seriously, here is an un-first-world problem. I cannot wander into a shop and see/touch/feel/hear higher[ish]-end headphones or other hifi equipment without getting on a plane to another country.

LIAR ! All you have to do is to catch a cab and travel less than 7 kilometers to come to my house :)p13. And I will not charge you anything !!! :)p13

At least play "Hotel California" at 16 bit CD quality. If you dare to MP3 it an eagle from heaven might strike down on you and the Eagles of Death Metal will not be able to save you from checking in to compressed audio hell. Of course you can always pray to Them Crooked Vultures for winged rescue.

If that is an invitation, I'll come next week :) . Why wait so long? Because of one 4pm concert tomorrow
But had no clue that you had opened a shop except perhaps for a Gungnir

I'm out of bottled beer and now i need to drink from cans! My life fucking sucks right now guys, should i call a help line?

It's hot even with 'open' cans :P
My 1st-world-fossil-fuel-burning-damn-all-with-aspirational-1%-thinking: need air-conditioning headphones. Why can't they make air-conditioned headphones if they can charge $3000 for them?

Does getting banned online constitute a 1st world problem? :)p8
-
I'd say yes, especially if it was for the crime of telling the truth about how craptastic a piece of ultra hi-end, high priced gear sounds. See Anax for further details. :)p2

The Y split the HD650 is too short so I usually end up garrotting myself when I take them off absentmindedly. To remedy this I put them on from back to front with cable running down my back.
Then when I take them off my ponytail gets caught in the in the Y split...

Did you knot the ponytail? Or is this a case of the ponytail having a will of its own and not liking the knot?

I just use one elastic hair band. The problem is that my ponytail is longer than the Y split so it works it way out and over it. I measured the cable, an it's only 9.5 inches from the ripstop to earcup. My Lambdas have 15.5 inches to the ripstop. I never have either problem with them. Unlike the 650s they also have a physics based excuse for not being single entry.
That makes me wonder what HD650 drivers would sound like in a 558/598 frame...

Good question, that would be interesting indeed. I think you need to open up the HD598 a bit more but it could work.

I f***ing hate the rubber bands of my portable DAC/amp! I almost want to cry!
