First play "Whip My Hair" by Willow to give you reason to really take off the headphone. When you strive for death by disgust at least end it with something disgusting...

P.S. This song is too atrocious to link. Even Right Said Fred is more likeable.

I looked that up and decided that it's more of a reason to join the voluntary human extinction movement instead of just offing yourself...

No removable cable,
Right-side cable entry,
Seem to be quite heavy,
Bass levels,
costs $500+

Yikes...

Recently tested the Momentum 2.0 and those were quite an improvement in terms of sound + comfort over their first generation. Liked the momentum on-ears and of course, the HD6xx are just classic but these?!?! Just by having a Right-side cable entry only makes it almost a no-go for me. If a tour is made, I'd try them but I'm definitely not spending any $$$ unless the price dips by a whole lot. Too much competition on this price bracket for "on the go" headphones. From Alpha Dogs to newcomers Master and Dynamics to ADL H128, and even the Kennerton Magister with the Promotion they are running right now, etc... it's definitely fighting an up-hill battle me-thinks...

Will wait for more impressions... as of now I call it "meh" in everything but sound department!

LoL. Even if agreed upon, the extinction process would probably grind to a halt in the later stages, when life had become utterly tolerable, with less cars on the streets etc.

The HD630: How on earth have they realized the "active circuit" mentioned. Does one have to change battery, like in the noise-cancelling Boses? (or is it "long life" nuclear povered?)

When a manufacturer throws in things like built-in dsp's and/or amps in headphones, I get the feeling they're running out of ideas to make better headphones so they look to muddy any direct comparison against others by having lots of settings.

At this price point, there's some really fierce competition which means it IS possible to improve things. They seem to have either lost touch with the a the HD6XX series are about (decent value, relatively hi-fi headphones, solid purchase, non-life-style, scales pretty good) or they just can't think of what to do to better the range. Unless this sounds $hit-giggle-OMG-amazing it doesn't seem to bode well for the new Senn flagship. Why are these not in their DJ range of headphones?

And honestly, how hard can it be to make the cable detachable? AFAIK, only Fostex and Denon seem to be the only ones insisting on non-detachablity these days. Sennheiser already sells replacement cables for 600, 700 and 800 series headphones. So why not pick any of those 3 connector types for this one? What an odd decision.

The ATH-M50 was introduced without detachable cable. Later the "Pro" had a detachable cable. Maybe Sennheiser is trying to skim the market that is already saturating to find niches between niches.

.

At least the HD700 has a removable cable so it's easier to hang yourself with it after you realize how much money you wasted...

.

Maybe if you put the headband under your ear?
