Jerry Harvey appreciation thread
« on: March 21, 2015, 10:43:33 PM »

JH Audio is a leading CIEM manufacturer founded upon the peerless expertise of Jerry Harvey himself. JH has led the field in innovation, he is responsible for nothing else but the very concept of shoving small acrylic-encased boxes into ears. The latest innovation brought forth to enrich the CIEM market is called, simply, patent #8,897,463.

edit:

I've been informed that some nefarious entity has dared to challenge this welcome invention - an act of infringement surely borne of jealousy and cowardice. https://www.unitedstatescourts.org/federal/flmd/305579/1-0.html

I wish JH Audio the best of luck in establishing their invention of using multiple electroacoustic transducers covering treble frequencies coupled with the use of a "cross-over" in order to reduce distortion and increase bandwidth. That he had the presence of mind to shove said sound-perpetrating machinery in a tiny shell makes JH's feat all the more impressive.

I have begun to unzip my pants and have located my lotion.  I am prepared to commence this perpetual ceremony towards my self enlightenment because I want to reaffirm my purchase and have nothing better else to do with my time as mandated by the proverbial and mythological appreciation thread code of conduct that was written in stone many eons ago.

It's strategic. He's picking on the small fry first (1964 ears). If he wins, he'll have precedent to go after the likes of UE, Noble, Westone, Shure, etc. Harvey might very well win. A jury in Orlando might side with him. Depends how good the lawyers are.

USA needs serious patent reform.

Not sure if he should be awarded the Changstar Douchebag of the Year Award yet. Maybe we'll put that up to vote once we know more details about the case.

Not sure whether this has something to do with the personnel music chairs that marketing guy Chuck Reynolds did a while back; he jumped ship from JH to 1964 last year, right before Regan took over as CEO.

Distributors were informed by JH that Reynolds' leaving was a "firing" rather than his leaving amicably.

I don't know the real story and whether it has to do with retaliatory measures of some kind.

OMG, this is shit! :vomit:

If he win, don't it mean that he may fuck with the business from others companies?
No competition = higher price, less innovation and so on...

Why don't they spend their money with customer support, which AFAIK are BS.  walk the plank

Chuck moved to 1964 now? Hehe. He was at UE a few years ago. Last OC meet he was with JH, and I was kinda like whoa.

Given how patent laws work, it would screw the market for the US, yes. But I doubt the patent would sustain the scrutiny when/if JHA tries to expand the scope of the patent to EU and Japan. Hence the result would be a slaughter of innovation for american manuf. and a boost for foreign manuf. I'm not sure which would stand out, but my bet is on China, regardless of the quality of the final result.

Yeah, seems he's been bouncing around the musical chairs the last few years.

I can understand his willingness to go for it after the UE active crossover bullshit. Still, I've always made it a point to hate both the playa and the game.

The drafters of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure were exceedingly wise.  They gave us a mechanism to get rid of bogus claims like this expeditiously and inexpensively.

Rule 12(b)(6), do your stuff.
