For the signs, I could volunteer to do them. My GF loves making signs for parties and whatnot, so I could coerce her to help out.

As for names, since this will take place in LA, TrafficJam comes to mind.

Or how about First Annual Plankton Search Party? Pirate theme optional. Bonus points if we can trick a Marine Biologist or two to show up  ;D

Other than that BLAM 2012 has a good ring to it. Although in LA, GLAM is probably more appropriate (Giant LA Meet?).
