  • I want to limit to 6-7 headphones at most. Too many in a comparo makes things difficult.
  • Lets have a vote later to choose the 7 after more candidates are submitted.
  • I want to try crowdsourcing this endeavor (to be free from vendor influence) and also b/c it would be a fun experiment.
  • All headphones will be given away at the end of the comparo.
  • Prefer to be able to buy from Amazon, i.e. readily obtainable.
  • Full sized headphones, although Grado gets a pass.

Fullsize only?
Nevermind, I see you have some Grados in there. How about the CAL!?, I reckon it would be competitive in that bracket. There's also the M40x which goes for $99.

XPT100 is cheaper than HM5 and has a more flexible headband and more pad options.
Koss ProDJ100 (or any of its variants) with M50 pads.
Sony ZX700

Are we talking stock or minor mods such as front damping?

I was thinking fullsize. Grado gets a pass because they are Grado. And the "e" thing has me curious. Perhaps too much so.

Koss and Sony are too cheap. They need to be over $99 street price.

UE6000
M80, not full size tho'
SRH440, but apparently there are two versions: bright and bassy. So probably not.

And L-cush for the cheap Grados (you probably have but if not, 4ourears @ Amazon sent me fake ones recently so avoid them for pads.)

Is the K181 DJ the same as the K518?
If so, I think my HD681 Evo is better than it.

Probably they aren`t the same, price is too different.

Trying to avoid stuff below $99 street. UE6000 is discontinued?

Still sold at Amazon for $100-110; probably cheaper elsewhere.
