Add the Koss KSC75 to your collection if you really are impatient.

Hello!

Long time lurker, first time caller....

Mrs. ForBin here (aka GYTW). I have been reading over my husband's shoulder so much and making comments that I finally got the "Damn it! Just sign up and post them yourself." So here I am.

I must admit that it is my husband, Dr. ForBin, who got into the hobby before I did. Not that I don't enjoy music. I started my musical training at the tender age of 6 and walked away from it 15 years later because I knew I could never make a career out of it and, well, I could not get my teaching credentials. So listening, and knowing, good music kind of makes me sad. That, and being the freak that I am and only enjoying music that I can 'see', well you could see why I was a little cautious in entering this hobby.

Luckily my loving husband showed me the wonders of headphones that could bring music back to life to me. That, and moving to live amongst the Vikings two hours away from work,  meant that I would have plenty of time to enjoy the hobby. Luckily I am at an office that I can enjoy a small desktop set up with the goal of becoming a WAH with a dream set up and more time with the family.

Outside of work, I am still pretty busy with two teenage children, a husband helping to raise them, a cat that complains I work to much, knitting, and trying to figure out what day it is. My listening pleasure of choice for commuting is VModa XS with stock cable with no remote control (sorry, the cable/microphone combo tends to sound like crap to my ears) attached to Ipod. This may change since I am thinking of executing community property rights and precurring the JDS Labs C5 Headphone Amplifer from Dr. ForBin and adding it to my commuting collection soon. Work has my Ipod attached to an Nuforce Icon Ido amplifer and my NAD Viso HP50 (my precious!) attached to this to enjoy hours of bliss. That is unless we have our quarterly safety drills which I keep missing because I can't hear the alarms ( :-00).

I do enjoy the posts on this forum and the interesting opinions. I hope to be an active member of the community and that my '2 cents' I may contribute every now and then may be valuable.

Cheers!!

Hi All,

Short time, first time...

Joined this forum a bit ago and have been doing some reading of threads here to get some ideas on where to start. I decided to keep it simple and start out with a Bifrost DAC with no upgrades and a pair of Q701s. My source is the Tidal app streaming at 16bit/44.1KHz (HIFI mode) from my iPad 2, mirrored to an Apple TV. The A-TV is connected to the optical input of the Bifrost and its line out to a Marantz PM6004 integrated amp. I listen with the Q701s on the 6004's headphone jack. This arrangement will have to do for now, as I have yet to get approval from my CFO for a dedicated headphone amp.

Needless to say I have enjoyed my research activities on this forum. The information I've gleaned here has been very helpful. Anyway, happy to be here and hope that I can contribute in a meaningful way.

Oh, I forgot to post in this thread. I actually made my account here a year or two ago and I haven't really had the chance to post here.

Honestly, the appearance of this website is kind of a turn off for me, hahaha. If you look at the themes for this website, I'm currently 1 of the 2 users using the "SMF Default Theme - Curve" theme.

Some of you may know me from around Head-Fi. Others, maybe from my YouTube channel.

As with many people here, I like both objective and subjective views on audio products.

Oh, and this smiley reminds me of The Governor from The Walking Dead TV show.

My compliments none the less. In two year you have made five posts. I assume the rough environment of HF has made you a very skilled lurker.

What about your one-eyed lurking skills?  :)p2

Hi, I'm drfindley. I'm rather new to the audiophile stuff, but I've been a headphone junky for years, but mostly in the cheap space. I saw a pair of HD800s for $1000, which led to a Ragnarok, which led to LS50s and will soon lead to a Yggy. I've had Grados (60 and 325e) and Peachtree Audio stuff (Musicbox + DS4.5 and Nova + DS5.5) beforehand.

So I love the all the measurements, but I'm still trying to figure out what they mean to me. Is there an ideal measurement? Is there a good way to go about trying different tones or whatever to see what sound I like.

Anyways, quite a bit of a n00b, but I love music, mostly Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Modest Mouse, Led Zepplin, The National, Aphex Twin and the White stripes and hundreds of others.

Bienvenido Drfindley  ahoy

Read the various comments about the measurements here and you come to understand a number of things.
1. Measurements and subjective listening impressions can complement each other.
2. Measurements can show things your ears do not pick up.
3. In the end your own enjoyment determines whether you want to continue listening with specific headphones and speakers.

Mind you I am not as technical as Ultrabike, Solderdude and Marvey. I have learnt many things from their comments and explanations though...

As long as you enjoy the music, life is good.
