The fact that there is few ways to get a replacement earpads for their previous generation headphones (XB series) already. I would not count Sony's support for a long term.

People are starting to audition the z5 and a3 in Hong Kong, seems pretty promising.

Expandable microSD, very nice! Battery life too, according to the specs.

I'm concerned that it might have some of the ZX1's issues: bad scrolling, no guarantees about firmware updates, proprietary charger cable. And the screen res is pathetic--whatever.

We'll see . . .

Yea I hear you.  Hopefully these are all turn around products for Sony and perform well.

But the ZX1 is Android based, no?

If the A17 is even as good as its predecessors UI-wise, it will be enough. I like the fact that I can get a touch feel. This means I dont have to look at the screen whenever I want to do something. For a pure music player I do not see the reason for a touch screen. Pretty much all of us have phones that do all the other tasks that people ask of their music devices.

Anyway, I hope it will end up a working product. SQ out of a portable device is somewhat secondary to me. If it is at least on the level of its predecessors, I will be happy.

Fatter bass, darker sounding, less open and spacious than the EX1000 it seems.  Meh.  Hope they bring them to CES.
