Maybe Joe's ears are broken?
I have yet to find a Grado that I can live with.

It's a short list. Vintage S/A RS1's, HP1000 (the various darkstar driver variants are "ok") and the PS1.

GSKi is tolerable on certain setups.

You mean John, his son. Joe has excellent ears.

Nephew, though Jonathan is John's son.

Anyway, I still like cheap Grados for some music. "They're br-r-right!"

I was uncomfortable with the sound of the SRs I heard from "The Kid's" new line because he masked the usual peaky treble behind some midbass. It's an odd mix, and I prefer the simpler brightness of the older ones. But it's similar enough to the old ones, so one's reactions will be pretty similar.

Joe has excellent ears.
Thought unfortunately, it seems the years have not been kind to his mind.

I think that's true for all of us. ;)

Well, someone sent me an sr60e as a gift from the US so I'll report on it soon. I have owned the sr60 and have heard the sr60i as well so this should be interesting if the new propaganda is true  :)p8

On another note, the old i versions are discounted here so I had to buy the rs2 just for looks hehehe
I am loving them with the electrical tape modded bowls though damn! :spank:

Oh with the Electrical tape there is still some brightness in the treble but I do not hear anything annoying in the 2khz region anymore. Read Tylls Grado mod article on IF about the 225i... He started liking the 225i... I also had the 225i at the time and did the same mod. It was better than stock but it still annoyed me a little. With this mod on the RS2i, no more tinnitus! Musical Bliss with a Grado so now if even the sr60e is supposedly free of ringing then it should be good. Well See in two weeks or so.
