Looking forward to further impressions! How does it handle high sensitivity stuff?... got a TH900 lying around?

Some buzzing in left channel of AD2000. Tested with and without SL Waber wavetracker power strip.

Still in beta - so will be reporting it. Going to test more. My house is an electrical noise nightmare with all the LEDs, CFLs, ballasts, dimmers, etc. I've had serious issues with Mjolnir (another cybertronian amp which has complex power supply).

On the edge of my seat here.  Do tell more about Rag doing tube things.  Hope this amp can do dynamic contrast and shading, layering etc. but still have taught bass, clean transients and yet lack "etch" or brightness.
  • Dynamic contrast and shading - check, possibly the best I've heard from SS and easily surpassing mid-tier of the road tube stuff. This is what keeps me coming back to listening.
  • Layering - check
  • Taunt bass - check, double check
  • Clean transients - check, triple check
  • Lack etch - check (although it's not forgiving like tube amps can be - I need mods to HD800)
On the last note, I would say that after about eight hours, the tonal balance if anything tends toward mid-centric. This is not a bright amp. It is not aggressive either. Is is not bassy. There is no thickness. The bass is subdued, but is absolutely thunderous when called for, especially with the Abyss. I would except the Audeze headphones to perform similarly. The treble is so very and silky smooth, but not rolled off.

The stage is a little bit upfront and not as deep at the EC DHT amps. I wouldn't expect that for SS. However, the sense of space is very expansive and open. Reminds me of the T2DIY in that way.

A lot of you guys know that I think highly of the Dynahi. If you guys have heard Ti Kan's Dynahi, the Rag sounds similar to it. Except throw even more silky smoothness, bass dynamics, and a good portion of end-game tube amp plankton and microdynamics (DNA, EC, Millet, etc.). Obviously no tube bloom or wet sound sound. But very seductive listen. I'll come back here and type a few things here and there to head back to the living room.  The only other SS amps which I feel may equal the resolution of this amp are the Krell Klone and ohgourami's huge honking 70lb Krell. The Ragnarok is truly an end-game amp. Schiit's had a game changer at the low end with Vali. Now they have game changer at the high-end with Ragnarok. The Abyss is by far my favorite headphone with this amp.

Finally, keep in mind that I'm running a fairly liquid and smooth sounding DAC setup.

BTW, everyone should RTFM. It does explain a lot of things. I like manuals.

Sounds like my kind of amp, just needs companion Ygg and that should be a compelling system, or possibly alongside a different DAC (if Ygg turns out to be too organic) to what I currently have.

Thanks for the impressions. With my planars, I think this will be great. Oh please try the HE 6 with the Rag and let us know how it goes. Thanks

Where did come from above chats ?  Is there any Changstar IRC channel or other Chatroom somewhere ?

Just want to be clear. The sound is different from the DNA Stratus - but they are both just as good in their own right.

100W into 4ohms. Will also handle difficult speaker loads.

As for Mojo, sell yours before I sell mine. I didn't come in expecting to keep the Rag; but its exceeded my expectations by quite a bit.

Haha...You will easily beat me to it....I'm in India remember? Shipping alone is close to $100. Oh well, I'll transfer the Mojo to my office. BTW, any thoughts on the Gungnir with the Rag?

Gungnir should be fine. The HD800 should work better with Rag than Mojo.
