I'm not trying to say power doesn't matter or make a difference, simply that you need to shell out some serious cash and often increase complexity to be purchasing more than ridiculously marked-up products with new badging.  Dedicated lines are a good idea as well.
I'd love to have super clean power, or hell, balanced power from Equitech, but I'm not going to spend $1000 on a power related device when none of my components cost that much and I'm using solid state devices.  That's all.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to say that was your intention, just a general note of caution because the article does sort of imply that. It's a very common refrain from the sound science meter reader types that all amps sound the same, therefore certainly their power supplies must also work the same and equally effectively, and need no help. Strange then that several companies like Naim and Simaudio offer power supply upgrades. Would that imply that the standard power supplies are "incompetent?"

Anyway, yes, for most folks the TOTL PLCs are massive overkill, particularly with headphone setups rather than big speaker rigs. One of the rare exceptions is the MiniBUSS, which at $300 I think is worth checking out.

Sorry to derail.. but what is the general opinion regarding active vs passive conditioning? Right now I have both a PSA P3 & P5. I've been generally happy with the results and I like that I'm protected to brownouts, etc. but I'm wondering aside from the protection... will I get similar (or even better) results with something like the UberBUSS?

I had a PS Power Plant Premier in my system for awhile. It was very good at dealing with the 2PM/2AM issue, so as far as isolating your system from the larger power grid that's completely beyond your control, they definitely seem to have that covered. However, I didn't find it to be nearly as effective at otherwise boosting the performance of the connected equipment in the same way that the best passive conditioners can act as a kind of power supply upgrade.

Because of that and the fact that it was horribly unreliable, I sold it and moved on. If you want to experiment with an UberBUSS, you could always try plugging your P3 and P5 into the Uber's outlets. I know there are several folks that have a wall > Uber > balanced iso transformer setup and are very happy.

Interesting... I'll look more into the BUSS gear. Power here is surprisingly good... stable that is. We haven't had too many brownouts, so maybe making a change isn't a bad thing. Having both seems like overkill, atleast in terms of value. If I were to buy, the P3 and P5 would be up for sale.

It's worth a shot at least. You can try the standard configuration for 30 days and send it back if you don't like it, but if you want more than the stock six outlets or one of the custom wood finishes they offer or other stuff like that, then I think the sale is final. You'd have to check with PI though, I'm not positive on exactly how that works.
