Jedi council = Carter administration (probably Obama too, but too early to say, will need to let history sort things out)

You're kidding right?  Obama makes Carter look like g'damned Bismark or Richelieu.  Greatest foreign policy disaster in American history by a mile.

You never know. There's still a 0.1% chance everything falls into place before his term ends. But yes, things are looking really bad, considering that Putin is utterly predictable and really isn't that great of an adversary.

I don't believe in naming carriers or submarines after living ex-Presidents. You know what I mean.

OJ, didn't know about the codes until today, but to me they are absolutes.

The statement "There is no X, there is Y" may be paraphrased in a more negatively "Sith" like fashion as "X is a lie, there is only Y" and you might see what I mean.

I really like Vader and Han Solo. Leia was hot.

Can't say I like Obi-Wan... at all. Yoda is a bit senile so maybe he is justified.

It's all good, Jude is like the Jedi version of Emperor Palpatine :P

(there might be some Ewok and Hobbit in there too)

lol can't take you seriously. fvck Lucas and his shitty writing, you're the one bringing that sh1t into it. It sounds like you don't even understand the philosophical differences between Jedi and Sith, which should be evident to anyone paying attention. Here's a primer for you:

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Jedi_Code

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Code_of_the_Sith

So you think the best way to put forward your argument about Star Wars is to remove its creator and his 6 movie vision for it from the equation altogether?  Seems desperate but whatever floats your boat.  In reality it doesn't matter because the Jedi Code and Order is just inherently flawed anyway.

I'm well versed in the philosophy of the codes and the philosophy behind the philosophy enough to not be framed by you as ignorant.  Not sure if you realize but those principles didn't come out of thin air just a few decades ago.  That would be very Mormonesque of you to do so.  Sounds like you still haven't found a single fault in any of my arguments about the inadequacies of the Jedi and are now reduced to implying an ad hominem claim about ignorance on my part.

I think, you have to be a real biased fan to put blinders on and not see any faults with the Jedi Code (either version lol) and how its been poorly implemented or even circumvented by their own champions in the story lines. What should be evident to anyone actually paying attention, is that if you want to start a thread about a topic you should be open to those arguments rather than using it as an echo chamber for your own perceptions.

We do not deal in absolutes.  Except these here frickin' CODES which you must follow!  Btw, just know that we are on our second version of non absolute absolutes so we have no idea if we really know wtf we are talking about.  Yoda could fart tomorrow and have an epiphany.

So far it looks like the thread you wanted to have is I think good=good and bad=bad.  If you think good=bad tell me why you are wrong.  But by all means, if you want to define your ethics and morality by the color of a light saber crystal, by all means continue without me.  If I ever revert to being 7 years old again, I'll chime back in then.

Probably a Sith since I am passionate and follow my gut while Jedi's are more about serving the community and being selfless.

Thank you. Looks like my Chinese is getting through to someone.

Anax, my issue is that you're injecting all your opinionated political BS into what is a so much simpler question. Which philosophy do you subscribe to? This is more of an internal question for pirates to contemplate, rather than another outlet for you to rant about statism or whatever. You have this clever ability to turn most conversations into that. This isn't about good vs. evil; the Jedi and Sith have never been about that. It's about looking at two sides of human nature, and then asking where we fall in that spectrum.

So you actually read my posts and got that I'm talking about statism and politics.  That's a pretty amazing lens you are reading through....

I am talking about both human nature and the state of nature, but you obviously don't get it.

So you want to know if people will admit to being selfish and passionate or selfless and stoic on a basic level.  K.  Sorry to have elevated your original post beyond the most basic level of comprehension and literacy.  I guess I should have figured it out since it was essentially blank.

Carry on.

Where does Jude fit in all this?

Wait, Jude is a stereotypic caricature of a greedy Jew?
