Continued from Shoutbox:

What I like about the Jedi is that despite their baseline level of strict emotionless dogma, they're fundamentally more human than the Sith. Or rather, they accept their own humanity better than the Sith. I would argue that the Jedi understand the nature of the Living Force better than any Sith. The Sith only understand the Force from a selfish and abusive point of view as they are blinded to use it in their own quest for power. The nuances of the Living Force (which is supposed to be some sort of twisted allegory of human nature) are totally lost upon them. The Jedi OTOH hold no illusions to their place and purpose in the universe. Their understanding of the Force stems from a belief in control, rather than emotion. I see myself as a Jedi rather than a Sith for this reason. Although I think there are valid arguments for the other side.

I pretty much disagree with every aspect of this statement.

I couldn't get past Question #1 and all the rest pretty much offer false choices.  I'm afraid I must be disqualified from playing life Chess.

Then go ahead and explain why you align yourself with the Sith ideology. Everything I said is rooted in how the Jedi and Sith ideologies are explained in the lore. You obviously have a different interpretation of that material that's influenced by your own views, so go ahead.

Then go ahead and explain why you align yourself with the Sith ideology. Everything I said is rooted in how the Jedi and Sith ideologies are explained in the lore.

Are you picking sides for me now?  How very Jedi of you.  The Jedi way of right versus wrong but no absolutes?  Always false choices, false promises and hypocritical principles ever judging without judgment.  What a bunch of pretentious elitist snobs.  Every other sentence in your post (based on lore as you say) was an inherent contradiction defying both logic and humanism even though it's lore correct to you.  Not saying you are those things, just that your propagation of the lore in such naïve terms does nobody any good.  Lucas' notion of the Force, Jedi and Sith is the equivalent of a 10 year old's stunted understanding of Buddhism, Warrior Monks and Samurai culture.  The events wrt the movies are representations of past historical events like the rise of Imperial Rome from the ashes of the Roman Republic.  You look to the lore of the movies and books from various writers cobbled together.  I look to the historical events and underlying philosophies those metaphors are based on, not propaganda from Lucas' or Yoda's Disney media machine.  Ultimately for every fault or horror you could ever attribute to the Sith, you must likewise lay blame at the Jedi and everything they claim to stand for to have allowed that to happen in the first place.

One could say the Sith commit sins of commission.  However, the Jedi commit sins of both commission and omission over and over again.  For some reason not even an eternal force ghosting Yoda or Sir Alec Guinness can do a damn thing to break that cycle of FAIL.  So everyone's favorite magical tale of Intergalactic happiness can end with drunken wookies and ewoks humping your leg at the end of Episode VI, but in the end the Jedi's arrogance and faith in their philosophy of blissful and willful ignorance just guarantee the start of the next mass genocide of those innocents they supposedly care for.  The Jedi will always be doomed to repeat their mistakes because their inherent philosophy is logically flawed and contradictory.  Sorry, I'm too old and too educated to fall for their superficial and white washed sense of morality.  The fact that they need a Jedi council is an admission they have no frickin' idea what the hell they are doing for all their eternal wisdom.  F**K the Jedi and their lies.   poo

Han Solo has more of the universe figured out than they do, he just doesn't know it.

Checkers is a Progressive's Utopia no doubt.  At least being a checker's piece would guarantee I never get played!  *:p ;)

lol can't take you seriously. Fuck Lucas and his shitty writing, you're the one bringing that shit into it. It sounds like you don't even understand the philosophical differences between Jedi and Sith, which should be evident to anyone paying attention. Here's a primer for you:

LOL, nerds!

I pick Han Solo and will pretend that is what my username was for all along. Actually, I mean, it was...obviously. No pretending necessary.....(it's cooler than the actual back story of my username)

You can frame both sides as stupid, Jedi or Sith. But, clearly some of you over think it...green/blue = good, red = bad. Sith = red, therefore Sith = bad. DUH! Put your philosopher robes and nerd glasses back in the closet and head back to pre-school!  )(

(I actually love Star Wars, but can't say I'm at the same level of worthless nerdiness as some of you. It's OK, I have my own worthless, nerdy areas I focus on. Pointless obsessions over fantasy universes is fun!)

Jedi council = Carter administration (probably Obama too, but too early to say, will need to let history sort things out)

Probably a Sith since I am passionate and follow my gut while Jedi's are more about serving the community and being selfless.
