Eddie Current 445 bare metal

Metal goes to paint tomorrow. Heavy wrinkle powder on the chassis, semi gloss black powder on the back, top, and bottom. Laser etch should look cool through the wrinkle paint.

Nice to see this coming along.

Interesting to see his change to wide/shallow, his first EC 2A3 amp looked like this (2004):

Oh my! Looks nice.

I personally MUCH prefer the wide/shallow. It's more shelf-friendly.

Craig has a table in his tiny living room. The CD player and TT is on the left, leaving only enough room for amps which are longer than wide. Thus explains the typical EC form factor. I bitched to him about how I could never stack his amps on anything. He bitched backed that he wouldn't be able to fit the amp on his table. I didn't think he would do it this way, but he actually did.

I asked to have mine in Orange and Lime Green with "Changstar 445" silk-screened on it so images of it can prominently displayed (and later removed) on HF.

Lol, awesome Marv. So Craig finally figured he could just work from the side of his table-that's just great.  :)p8 Keep us updated with project update pics!

I desire all my amps to be wider than deep in form factor, as I like to imagine they have birthing hips.

I mostly talk about music there. Weird.

Those tubes in the middle look like the same ones Doug uses in the L-2.

Any word on anticipated pricing for this? I'm assuming BA-ish, if not more?

I'm remembering $2800 but that might have been for a totally different amp.  Shows how off I am when I rely on memory.

I'd really like to get mono blocks of these in the next few weeks, then I could have a tube amp menorah...

Probably moar than BA. I'm guessing close to $5K with Sophia tubes.
