The pair we heard and measured above had more than 500+ hours on them.  A well used pair.

The THD and high-end extension (with a resistor) are considerably lower / higher-extending than the ER-4B http://rinchoi.blogspot.com/2012/03/etymotic-research-er-4b.html

This data makes me think the Yashima driver has lower THD and - most notably - higher extension than the highest extending BA driver, yet M.R.O. is not very interested due to the inaccurate FR versus ER-4?

In the comments section he criticizes the price, however there are cheaper Yashima driver IEM's available, right?  He doesn't even try different tips or different resistor values, which I have.

I'm perplexed why the Yashima driver is so overlooked, subjectively it's actually quite stellar.  There's a special place for the E-Q7 in my IEM listening, with or without various resistors attached.

Looks and ergonomics. Apparently, you can't change the structure of the front barrel. In fact, drivers come pre-fabricated with that thing in the front. Ortofon's models look different from Grado's because they polish it. Functionally, though, they're extremely similar.

At least Ortofon is soldiering on with the e-Q8...

The E-Q7 featured Silver-plated cables, looks like they're taking it a step further in the E-Q8 by asking Yashima for a Silver voice coil.

ORTOFON if you happen to read this...

-- Include a low ohm resistor in the jack, i.e. 29 ohm, to extend the highs
-- Include an updated FR chart
-- Include a low THD chart
-- Include pictures telling us why single drivers are theoretically better than multi (as Final Audio has done)
-- Alternative model E-Q8Ag with pure Silver cables and pure Silver housing.

I had a listen to these in a store and couldn't believe how crappy they sounded for the price.
I'm admittedly not a fan of thin analytical BA in-ears but this was a harsh thin mess.
The build was not much better than a $10 Philips in-ear.
