One last thing I'll add.

I know a lot of good and knowledgeable people who are interested by Changstar, but stay away due to the negative vibe certain people create.  Some of it is misconception on their part, but perception is reality after all.   

I hope this will bring them in.  They're some of the "good" ones from Head-Fi that I think could contribute positively.

I just got caught up on this post and wow.  We literally six or seven days ago banded together as a community to help save Changstar and Marv out.  Like seriously when is it ok to make racist/demeaning/inappropriate comments to your fellow members.  I don't care who you are or if you have been here since the beginning honestly no one should be subjected to that.  I understand this is the internet but guys this certainly isn't xbox where everyone is just shouting over one another and see who can be more offensive.

Marv to have you and other admins here 24/7 to "babysit" people who don't know how to treat others makes this like a 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th job.  Just ban them and move on.  It's sad to see people get booted out but really everyone in our community should know how to treat and respect one another. Also a debate doesn't mean state your point someone calls you out and you call that person a moron.  Debates are both objective and subjective and should stay on task.  Not turn into a insultfest.  Come on guys just common sense.

This community whether members like it or not is going to grow (it's inevitable).  We are getting a new site whether you like it or not.  You can be afraid of that all you want but people like myself want more knowledge than what is provided on other sites.  We come here because we are of like mind and want to pool our ideas together.  If you lost what you are here for then just leave but please don't make it your playpen to cause issues.

Some people truly think that the 2nd example is justifiable and part of passionate discussion.  It's this inability to distinguish that I think is why change is necessary.  Some people don't get it.


That's exactly how I feel. There's almost a kind of 'pride' in how tart the replies can be sometimes. I hear that many Pyrates are actually 'pussycats' at the meets and also don't resemble their online persona.

All I can say is thank goodness it's not for real then!! ;)

Since a few people have brought it up I'd like to apologize for the use of "ching chong" in that guide if people did in fact take it the wrong way. I think it was a misunderstanding as I was trying to highlight what I consider to be the gaudy Chinese nu-money aesthetics of the HE1000. As well as the softer, more romantic Chinese sound it delivers

I hate to use the "I have a black friend" defense, but I live in one of the most Asian populated areas in the US. And I went to the most Asian university on the west coast. I count many folks of Asian descent amoung my friends including Marv and others. It's times likes these where I feel the need to tap into my inner Asian and recenter my Zen as there's a lot of misunderstanding and hysteria going around right now. I think we should all take a real deep breath before jumping to conclusions about where the site is headed and what Marv has in mind for the future.

I cannot promise to be politically correct in the future, and I know that is not what this new site is going to be. But I do my best to keep any race, gender, etc. jokes as non-personal as possible. For those with acute sensitivities to such things I would ask you to be sensitive to my need to make such jokes. If that makes sense.

I am also guilty of a few meltdowns. All I can say is that I have reached out to personally apologize when my temper cools back down. I realize that does not excuse the behavior. I suppose there's something about internet forums that can bring out the worst in us. I put faith in our friendships to keep us together.
