Just measured this one.

A very graceful friend let me put it on the coupler, to see if what he was suspecting to be "resonance" was right.

And he was right. There is some ringing at 6KHz.

Subjectively, due to the fairly even-steven FR, the headphone is only heard (by me) as a bit thin and occasionally bright. Its tonal balance is actually kinda dark and bassy. With certain kinds of music, it works quite well. If nothing else, at least it's better than the W1000X and W3000ANV IMO.

Worth a look if you're into Audio Technica sound and woody stuffs IMO. Though ringing at 6KHz can potentially be kinda...  :-Z

Yep. There is a Z now. Admittedly, it's not my favorite ATH woody, but it gets closer than most that are in production.

I wish I could put faith into wooden headphones. I'm going to be selling my 1000x due to worries about humidity messing them up. Would love to hear the z though.

The Z is better. It looks pretty much like a W3000ANV with a different color theming. Though the sound is not as syrupy as W3000ANV.

Anywho, if you're into ATH headphones, I think the new R70X is worth a look. Will see if I can get its measurements soon.

I'm supposed to have a pair at some point coming in rather soon. Here's hoping!

I really wish I had a house with some sort of humidity control though, going from 0% humidity to 100% humidity and etc can't be good for wood. I'm not sure what kind of variations we're talking, but some woody AT measurements look off balance and someone said it could be due to the wood.

You can buy one of those dehumidifiers or a box...

I use those for my camera gears all the time. I haven't paid a mind (or even two) to my wood headphones with regards to humidity, as they seem to be doing just fine.

A box would work, I could get a tupperware to hold them. Guess I now have to research what humidity I should keep it at. I assume the same as a wooden musical instrument, which I believe is around 70%. Unfortunately a dehumidifier wouldn't work since I have my window open almost 24/7
