To be fair, as I know Marv pretty well IRL, it's not so much that he hates the K3003. People read into his critique too passionately as is often the case and overlooked some fair points IMHO. Here, what normal people think sounds okay, we tend to think sounds shit. Above average gear is mediocre. The reference bar here is usually ridiculous high (usually end game worthy as in there is nothing left out there worthy). But considering what people charge for audio gear these days, it's no longer that ridiculous to offer such a critique. We also like to recommend gear that is a notable upgrade and not the infamous sidegrade pattern of hype and lunacy that you'd find elsewhere.

Back to the 3003, it's not so much he hated the 3003 as he hates messing with stuff that takes 20 steps to sound decent or pretty good. I'll tell him, try these tips, oh you need these filters, or this or that and he's pretty much had it. He'll take a Shure 215 that takes two simple steps to use and doesn't make him go treble deaf over a flagship universal that requires 20 experimental procedures to tweak and tune just right.

IEMs for Marv means he couldn't bring his speakers with him, and he needs something to not go crazy while away from home. It's not really his cup of tea under any ideal circumstance if I may say.
