I would be interested in someone's opinion on the second version which I currently use... I am still surprised how resolving it is - one can really hear that the Anax shelf-liner damps very well. I occassionally find myself worrying about whether the drivers rattle or what, only to find out it's not rattling but some micro-level detail or imperfection in my rock/metal music I couldn't hear before.

Too bad I cannot compare with something like HD800 recently... Well, at least I will compare with Paradox Slant soon.

I plan to mod my HE5LE with shelf-liner fazor. I'm unsure if I remove the star felt completely or cut it ring shaped. Any ideas about what the felt damps?

Oops hit the wrong Key,well anyway I just wanted to say that I just did a "quick & dirty" fit of a couple of "rug liner" circles i
had laying around, beneath the AKG 702 earpads that I'm using on my HE 6s(in addition to the same liner I attached to the window screen grilles after removing the damping material from the grille side.

The addition of the liner on the speaker side has brought a lot of midrange foward with very little penalty, as far as I can tell listening to a really nice William Alwyn ,Lyrita recording.

(Does'nt seem like they did very good job "voicing" the HE 6 either. The Double Helix Cables "Molecule" headphone cable seems to help a bit also (My 6s really have'nt given me nearly as much trouble to drive as most people report,could the cable be making them slightly more "efficient" ?) 

This is the shelf liner I got. Not as thick as the one from the anax mod.


But I will try your holey felt suggestion first. What I want: decrease treble from 8.5k to 13k, increase energy from 1k to 2k, leave the rest of the spectrum as it is.
