I've played with the headphone out of the hilo and it's working fine, but line out from the hilo to the S7 is not working right.  With nothing playing I'm getting quite a bit of noise, with music playing I cant get the music to listenable levels no matter what I try.  Fiddling with the hilo settings or turning up all volume to max the music is still very low with a lot of noise.  I'm using XLR to RCA cables btw.  Using foobar2000 with ASIO out.

Not sure if you know buy with modern USB asynch implementations you almost always have to install a driver before being able to use in Windows.  Did you double check the driver is installed?

The Hilo unfortunately is not the most intuitive DAC around so there's that as well.

Yes, I have already installed the USB drivers that I downloaded from the Lynx website.  I also have the ASIO output support plugin for Foobar2000 enabled.  I don't think the problem is with the USB.  I'm listening to headphone out on the hilo just fine with input from USB.

It's kind of strange, but I like the Headphone out from the hilo more than my previous setup(AudioGD dac to S7).  I guess I'm starting to see the importance of a good source.

Haha, I had one quick listen to the HP out with an hd650 and hd600 and never went back to it again!  Head to a radio shack and pickup 1/4" mono to female RCA adapters, they should be very cheap.  Plug those into the monitor outs and RCA to the s7.  You will control the volume by the front knob (my have to depress the knob to make sure it's working for monitor out).  Not sure if it will work any better for you but worth a try.

I've never had any issues with my Hilo and the amps I've used; but I do notice the fixed XLR output is not as loud of an output as some of my other balanced sources.  Noticed this especially with the GS-X over the weekend.

You're luck is maybe worse than mine, and mine is terrible!  Read up on that manual and maybe give Lynx a call, they're supposed to be very good at CS according to that rep  we all bought from

Don't know what to tell you about that.  The line outputs of my Hilo worked perfectly when I plugged in the Gilmore Lite.  Did you check the level on the line outs?  It defaults to 0, but it's possible that you could have inadvertently attenuated it while playing around on the touchscreen.

I'm getting a new XLR to RCA cable.  The one I'm using now is really flimsy and could be the problem.  I leave the USB input at 0.0 and line out at 0.0.  When using the headphone out, I leave the input at 0.0 and phones to -21 to -27 for my normal listening level

I just noticed this... In the PC - Hilo - PWD - S7 configuration... was the Hilo acting as a DDC via usb from PC to AES output to the PWD?  Am I missing something here?
