What circuit changes did he make in the LL2?  I know I read something about them about a month ago but I dunno where.

Not what you were looking for, but from the web site:

Important Board Tweaks

Capacitance is everywhere. It just is. Electrostatic amps are powering capacitors. With the wide voltage swings the amp has to push a lot of charge around to be reasonably responsive.

LL MKII has a redesigned board which reduces many important parasitic capacitances. This helps to speed up the amp and reduce loading at critical points in the circuit.

The board is now bigger with much larger ventilation holes to get more airflow through everything. The side panels of the amp also have new ventilation slots to improve airflow from outside to inside the box. Taken together these changes keep the amp much cooler.

Other than this, electrically, LL MKII is the same as LL and should give the same pleasing sound.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Nice to hear and verifies that I did not hear the LL1 under the best conditions because I used 007 to test and they are not as good a combo with the LL1.

Sounds like the enhancements to LL2 are exactly what I would have hoped for and I look forward to trying the new one (or the LL1 with a proper 009 pairing) someday!

Was it the #0 LL1 demo unit by any chance? I personally think my production unit (#13) sounds better than the demo w/ the SR-007. Not sure why.

I agree though that the LL1 is more polite, so it's better suited for the SR-009 / Omega than the SR-007 (though I still like the latter combo personally). The SR-007 is specifically why I ordered a BHSE.

The LL2 + SR-007 just blew me away tho.

Interesting. I felt Sachu and Wualta LL's were better sounding than the demo unit that CEETEE, n3rdlnig, and Anaxilus heard. It chalked to up to meet conditions.

I've noted the top grated plate of the LL2 is much thicker than the LL1.

Well, I'm sending this to the next guy on the eval. list. Thanks Alex!

I had a few CS folks over to my place to listen to it. We are gladly awarding the LL2 CS's highest honor:

Can anyone provide more specific comparisons of the LL2 and BHSE (using 009)?  For whatever reason, there really doesn't seem to be much discussion of LL amps on HF.  Is the Stax/BHSE hegemony really that powerful on HF?

Thanks.

I just contacted runeight about the LL2 loaner program.

I am really interested in hearing how it would do with the OII MK1s.  To my great dismay, my wife took a stand on the Electra and I can tell she is ready to die on that hill.  The LL2 would be a little easier to "hide" in a rack.

Hopefully I am considered for the loaner.  It would be nice to have some time to sit and compare with the 323s in a quiet environment.

The LL2 destroys the SRM323. I just shipped it up to S1 today. He's the Bay Area. Yes, hide it...

Seems more like the LL2 is hot off the press and it seems in the hands of pirates rather than HF folks thus far...

I didn't expect those tweaks to result in such a huge change in sound, now I kinda want to hear this new version.  I remember when we were comparing the LL/Jade, DIYT2/Jade, and Orpheus you guys said the LL sounds like crap, so it's surprising to hear how much more you guys like it now.  I'm tempted to sign up for the demo trial  :)p15

I don't think this forum or HC are good places to get unbiased opinions on stat amps for obvious reasons...in fact, it's probably the only sub segment of the headphone market I'd pay more attention to HF on.

Yeah, on H-fi you can join in w/ thinker's Malvalve Mamba or the Sennheiser HDVD Shimmy Shake.

I honestly don't see much difference on H-fi wrt stat amps from HC except for the occasional Woo and/or Ray bomb and flame.

That LL1 unit was a demo and it was the weakest of the amps present but not something I'd say is crap especially when you have lots of other amps like the 323 floating around.  That's some scheisse.

Please expound on the stat amp bias here....

The LL1 wasn't as impressive as a DIYT2 or an Orpheus rig? Color me shocked.

In all seriousness tho, the changes were definitely more significant than I was expecting too.
