I wonder how loud your iPod is via LOD.  I'll have to dust off an old nano and touch lying around the house somewhere.

picked up a glacier demo on BF sale. It's actually a surprisingly good pairing with my JH16s (FP), but the internal DAC is mediocre. I forgot my ODAC at home so I'm using the X-Sabre. With EQ, the bass feels... relatively controlled! EQed I find myself enjoying the JH16s more than I ever have.

This thing is in dire need of better EMI shielding. No strapping a phone to it as is. Seems fine with my F887, though.

@Zero Is it really that bad (interference)? I was thinking of picking up S III if i'll end up with Glacier. How's build quality? How do you think the SS case will hold up with portable use, are there any scratches? It was in good condition according to description, but it's still a demo unit.

It seems pretty sturdy. There are no scratches that I can find.

The interference is annoying enough that I wouldn't use the thing strapped to a cell phone without further shielding.

I'll test out the USB DAC functionality with a Galaxy S4 later this week and report back if it works.

Wow, is the Glacier's DAC really that bad? There are so many factors involved and I still haven't had a chance to audition any "high end" DACs and I probably won't ever since I always work weekends and the Sydney/NSW meet always seems to be held on a Sunday.

So, floating around the site I've been wondering if it would really do me any good if I picked up a Geek Out 450/1000? Either that or I'll add some cash to my potential future speaker setup fund.

It's a serviceable but not great DAC and a nice amp with a bit of a tube flavor which could use some more shielding.

And possibly grounding? I'm not really sure what is causing it, but if I keep my feet touch the carpet/floor/tiles while I'm wearing headphones/IEMs connected to the Glacier there is some quiet buzzing that I can hear from the phones.
