If you're comfortable with a bit of DIY, you'll likely do very well with a kit like this: http://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/2-way-speaker-kits/nada-2-way-klang-ton-kit-pair-using-illuminator/

The SS Illuminator drivers are some of the very best commercially available, at the very least in the same league if not superior to the Seas Excel drivers in the $7500/pr Joseph, and unless the Accuton ceramics are implemented correctly with the right design and crossover, the Illuminators will sound better.

There's a cabinet maker recommended on that Madisound kit's page who offers "assembly, tuning and measurements" for another kit.  I wonder if they would be willing to put together the NADA Klang+Ton kit for me.  If it's about $3K total that doesn't sound bad given the quality of the drivers.  But how good is the cabinet design of that kit?  The Argon3 would be around the same price range.  Pulsars have an average used price of $5,400.  $4,400 being the lowest recently.  So many options.  Hopefully the April NY audio show has some of these monitors playing.

If you're thinking about spending $3-4K or so on monitors, check out Fritz's Illuminator 7 which is $3200. IIRC, the Odyssey Kismet monitor is also about the same price.

Think the Revelator can out do the Illuminator depending on implementation?  Fritz Ill 7 at the top of my list right now for the price.  Is he using the same drivers as that Madisound kit?!  I'm surprised he has any margin.

No kidding. Fritz speakers are off the charts in terms of performance/dollar. There's also a tease of a model with an Accuton woofer paired with a Revelator ring radiator on his site, but I haven't seen or heard anything about it.

Those do look really awesome as well, but after doing as much reading about the Evolution Acoustics as i have for the last several days, I'm not sure they would be better. And I'm definitely in the market for a speaker in the 2-3k range right now, i realized i do have enough space for speakers, and ill be selling my LCD-3s to fund them. And they will mostly be for metal as you know Dave
