I used to drink Rochefort 6 and 10 as session beer. I'm so spoiled, beer-wise, that it's not even funny. Also my local has about 160 craft beer taps and a terrific kitchen. They even have a nitrogen-powered beer delivery system, since an inert gas doesn't affect tap beer flavor. Yes, they're that nerdy about beer, and so am I.
Some favorite breweries and beers at the moment (this list changes daily):
- Founders (for their stouts)
- Lost Abbey (amazing American Belgian-style experiments)
- Brouwerij Het Anker (they make the Gouden Carolus beers)
- Brouwerij Strubbe (for Ichtegem's Grand Cru, a world-class sour)
- De Proefbrouwerij (for Reinaert Flemish Wild Ale)
- Stift Engelszell (for Gregorius Trappistenbier, a BSDA from Austria that's out of this world)
- Unibroue (for Blanche de Chambly and 17 Grand Reserve, and a whole host of other Belgian-style delectables)
- Brasserie de Rochefort (because Rochefort)
There's too much more, but that's what I've enjoyed a lot over the last few weeks, and some a lot longer.
