Supposed Shure SRH1840 Frequency Response from YouTube Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aid7yYOXsDQ

The lower treble looks disturbing.

LFF, i think you quoted the wrong one. i knew you wanted to quote mine and it's exquisite art display. it's absolutely dashing, say so myself.

Some of you guys got to hear these recently.  What do they actually sound like?

I very briefly heard them (about 5 minutes) at a meet on an unfamiliar rig, so I'm really unqualified to give any solid impressions. But if you can take this with a mountain of salt, from my 5 minutes with them -- overly bright, an edgy treble, very thin and sterile. I felt like they weren't even better than my K701. But again, it was driven out of some portable rig that I was unfamiliar with, and may have been a pre-production model (Jude brought this particular pair to the Bay Area meet). Within 5 minutes, I didn't want to hear any more, for whatever that's worth.

Thanks.  Did you hear that elevated distortion in the lower mids and bass at all?  I'm kind of interested in how that part sounds.

Yeah I think it's more a reflection on the market than the individual.  ;)

Hollow and/or thin.  Harsh treble that was uncomfortable for me to listen to.  Recessed lower end.

I didn't have a whole lot of time with them, I couldn't keep them on for long, to say much more...

Yes, it was meet conditions, but that's enough for me not to be interested in these at this time.
