Nope, it's a flaw he's since fixed after one unit came back.  Probably a good way to get a discount.  I saw one at his workshop where the whole box is covered in patina.  It actually looks better tbh.  The S7 generates the least amount of residual heat of any of his amps due to the efficiency of the transformers.  It's a paint/anodizing flaw.

I like it.  Adds character.

The distressed look is all the rage right now.

I haven't noticed it happening with mine, but I haven't looked out for it either.

What tubes are included in the tube package for the Super 7 on the EC site? I'm talking about the $175 tube package. Are the tubes there worthy of the amp in making them sound realistic/balanced/spooky/younameit? :D

ElectroHarmonix 6SN7. They're ok, but not anything special. QC is ok, but not great - there are better and worse tubes in this brand. They're not too resilient against shock, so you might get some microphonic ones due to shipping.
Slightly edgy sound with plenty of bass. Microdynamics are so-so, but depth is good. "Mario" of tubes, doesn't do much wrong, but doesn't do anything really good either. Burn in of these takes about a week in S7 - they become less edgy and show more depth.

They're a decent preview of what the amp is capable of and just that - a preview. Which is still really good.
