How many times have I heard this time it doesn't sound like total garbage, this time the drivers don't suck complete balls, etc from the Soundblaster folks? I think I lost count years ago.

Feature bloat heralds bundled software bloat which in turn ushers driver fuckups. I don't see Creative breaking into a market served adequately by the likes of M-Audio. Except for maybe the weekend dubsteb DJ teens who are still swayed by leet gamer marketing.

I've always been extremely skeptical of hardware that seems to offer well above average performance from companies who also dabble in a bunch of software (specialized drivers, etc). Asus, creative and to an extent EMU are examples. As well as companies that quote chip specs instead of AES17 specs.

I think the potential to doctor results for internal cards on typical tests is probably more than a lot of people would like to admit, particularly with closed source drivers.

Everything from creative sucks.  The drivers suck, the hardware sucks, the company sucks.  Fuck them.

I bought an EMU 0204 USB when it was first released.  Thought it a reasonable deal at the time and it was on an introductory sale.  Turns out I got screwed big time.  It was released stillborn.  It has not gotten a driver update since release.  The drivers don't work well.  It can't be used reliably as intended.  They released it knowing full well that they were not going to support it after release.  Fuck them.  Creative and EMU should get a walk on the plank.  Absolutely dishonest and morally bankrupt company.  Creative has the resources to support a product.  They just choose not to.
