anyone else here enjoy rolling Linux distros?

Unity is growing on me, but "cinna"mint 14 (nadia) is one of the best I've used...
The new "Beefy Miracle" Fedora 17 is great, as well. Stable for sure, as is expected of a RH release...

I really can't wait for Mageia 3 to hit RC stage though!
(Mandriva and Schulz can suck it. The community already took control of that distro's future through Mageia and is creating one of the most modern installs to date!)

Also, I find the Dell XPS 12 to be one of the best implementations of tablet/desktop fusion.  [solid-metal outer flip-hinge design is pure sex; So much faster than trying to manually flip like on the Yoga...]

When it comes to Linux distros, my hands down favorite to use is elementaryOS with its Pantheon desktop. Beautiful OS with one of my favorite UIs. That said, it needs some work to make as customizable as most Linux desktops, but I love it.

Thanks for the heads up on Luna, but I find your statement [in bold] to be ironic in the sense that Pantheon is a Gnome 3 environment heavily modified under a design goal of an optimally configured user experience. (i.e.-- very OSX like... their website reminds me of apple's, too)

Unity is also centered around this idea but could use more polish. Pantheon is a nice improvement, from what I have seen so far...

On the subject of Linux, I got a Raspberry Pi: what should I do with it beyond using it as a media streamer?

the gpu in the raspberry Pi is quite powerful. like, as good as xbox 360 powerful!

1) linux gamer live distro. put it and the required broadcom binaries on it and you've got a portable fun box.

2) option for external storage, with outboard hardware control module(ala arduino) = super cheap programmable video-monitoring system.

3) build a portable audio source device (like dx100?) and create a custom case that holds an amp/screen/small keypad [I would do this and sell them for money]. (just make sure to change start-up scripts to load the media-player)

...I'm sure one could bing for more ideas, but most options I can think of still involve media of some sort.

Reading CES coverage it is bugging me that every device is getting better PPI displays except for the traditional desktop monitor. I very much want 2560x1600 in a 24" desktop display and don't feel that's asking too much.  :)p3

Seriously. 1080P in a freaking smartphone is overkill.

Anything interesting from CES? Bluetooth speakers seem to be all the rage these days.

Panasonic has a prototype 20" "tablet" with 4k resolution ... p:8

And nothing yet really. Lot of 4k tv stuff w/o pricing and incremental upgrades everywhere else.

Hands-on with the Surface Pro. Mildly interested in this. I like the idea, but not confident that it won't suck.

Also, my inner-geek loves these Pebble watches:

Ooh, thanks! That's actually what I've been waiting for from CES.

From the hands-on for the Surface Pro, most people seemed to really like it.

Anyway, this is rather odd:
