Took some time to sort it out, but the Bryston stays and the Luxman goes. It's just a little bit better at ... everything.
The Luxman generally does a fine job of taming the HD 800, but there were a couple of tracks that I used in comparative listening on which the Bryston did a noticeably better job: "Mercenary Territory" from Waiting for Columbus (96/24 AIFF rip from original Mobile Fidelity vinyl) and the first movement of the Pavel Haas Quartet recording of the Dvorak String Quartet No. 12 (44.1/16 ALAC rip from CD).
The Bryston also does a better job of retrieving interior detail on dense recordings. For example, in the first movement of the Polyphony recording of the Poulenc Gloria, the Bryston finds the missing tenors.
The real tell: after about five days with both amps, I found myself doing more and more of my casual listening on the Bryston.
Had a good two years with the Luxman. No regrets. But it's been surpassed.
