Since I have the DAC1 and have not done the better HD800 Mods yet, the Superior/Superior or Superior/Obligato or Silver/Obligato are very interesting to me!

I should order (2) Superiors, (1) Obligato, (1) Silver.

Okay, I just went for one combo that seems like what I would enjoy...

(2) Jantzen 10uF 800V Z-Superior Capacitor

(2) Jantzen 0.10uF 1200V Z-Silver Capacitor

Thank you so much for doing this work and sharing the results with us :)p1

So many buy lots of expensive tubes- but the caps and transformers must have a lot to do with it too.

I'll have a chance to hear for myself!

Thanks a lot Purrin, for your insight and mods!

All the stuff here on changstar really made me think again about some future purchases.
An EC-S7 is the next purchase. But first, time to start saving. :)

I am trying to get my head around the substantive differences between the ZD and the S7. I don't ever see a BA in the future, but I rarely see any comparative conversation between the other two.

I get that the ZD is OTL...Any opinions on this out there?

I believe that purrin did a good job of comparing the ZD/BA/S7 somewhere...might be at the other site.

I would love to spend time with both amps someday and still want a ZD.

Instructions on how to piss off Craig:

1) Contact him and show interest in Super 7
2) Ask him if he wants to do these mods whilst building a Super 7.

----

And I can understand why. As an experienced builder it could/would be interpreted as rude implying that his design has flaws.
On the other hand, the customizability of the S7 is what intrigues me. And the good publicity on head-fi and here really is the best marketing one could wish.

Let's hope I succeed in apologizing so I too can join the S7-club.

Thats hilarious.  Craig gets over things quickly though, I'm sure he'll sell you an S7.  You'd just either need to do change the caps yourself or have someone else do it.

Haha.. Yeah. We cleared the air regarding that and hopefully a Super 7 will be on my desk not too long after the holiday season.
