Proposed test to evaluate differences in headphone amplifiers
« on: December 06, 2011, 07:47:38 AM »

Anaxilus suggested such a test to evaluate differences in headphone amplifiers using a highly resolving headphone such as the HD800. Basically keep the headphone in place on the measuring rig, switch amps, match levels, and go down deep into the CSDs to see if there are any differences. We went way down to -55db on the CSD to see if there were any differences.

The amps used were a Melos SHA1 and a CHA47/CMOY variant. The Melos appears to have a very slightly lower sound floor, but it's just way too close to call.
