I think

Gamma2 -> DIY Cavalli amp

is one of the best budget rigs you can buy.  I'm pretty happy with mine.  Only thing I'd like to change is getting a better Cavalli amp.

Gorgeous!  I love industrial looking DIY amp builds like that.  From what I've read, the Stacker would probably be too warm for me and if I buy another amp it's got to be easy maintenance, trouble free after the money I lost on the EHHA.

I've got a SOHA right now, built by Fallenangel.  I compared it to a well built SOHAII that Particleman leant me for a while and honestly couldn't tell the difference.  At least not a difference that was better/worse.

This guy has me intrigued. XMOS Class 2 asynch, two oscillators for 44.1 and  48, volume control, analog or digital out, $699. When powered by a LPS or battery supply it uses no bus power, (though it may require a signal to be present to "wake up" the receiver like the Wavelink, I'm not sure).

Aye..its best the stacker went to someone with DIy abilities just as well.

Though might have an EHHA-1 with AMB S22(very minamalist looks) i built for a friend for sale in about a month's time..he is looking to sell it. Comes with Valvo 6GM8 as he bought a Liquid Fire. Probably 300-350$ shipped.

Good price although no point for those who have XMOS based USB implementation would even bother with it. Also lacking balanced output is a negative IMO.

Would've been nice if they had left the DAC implementation out of it for a standalone converter for like 400$.

What's your opinion on RevA vs 1?  I don't need a DAC though.  And honeslty I dont use my home amp much, if I'm that stationary I just use my speakers.

Have you ever compared SOHA to SOHAII?

Fell in love with the EHHA-1 when i first heard it. Really what started the whole Cavalli obsession for me.

The Rev1 has a better power supply options. Rev A is slightly better in terms of bandwidth which translates to a little faster amp section.

I'd take the EHHA-1 however over the Rev A.

haven't heard the SOHA. Only heard the SOHA2 and its quite good but i'd rather take the CTh over it for a more compact solution and far more tube rolling options. From the CTH i'd jump straight to an EHHA

They probably feel that the XMOS based, digital-digital only converter market is already fairly well covered (Anedio U2, Stello U3, etc). This could be an entry point DAC for someone just getting in to computer servers, and then it could switch roles to a converter for a higher-end DAC later on, similar to the KingRex but with better specs and a lot more digital output options.

"The Wolfson DAC chip used in the Transient does not have a DSD input.

We are working on a higher-end model that will accept DSD through USB, and also have several coaxial & toslink inputs, dual Burr Brown DAC's, 32 bit volume control, selectable digital filters, single-ended & balanced outputs, digital display, and full function remote.
This model will be much more expensive (somewhere around $2000) and won't be available until later this year."

Makes sense. ALthough would have been nice to see just the converter section being sold for like 400$ or so.
